Swainsford Heavy Horses is run by Richard Branscombe who has been working and training Heavy Horses since 1990. He was instrumental in establishing and running a Sussex-based Heavy Horse Charity that still continues to work to safeguard and promote the traditional breeds of heavy horse. After his 16 year involvement there, he has now moved on to set up and run Swainsford Heavy Horses with his wife, Tricia Hills.
Tricia as well as helping Richard, is owner of Blue Horse Equine Ltd, a company supplying harness and equipment for the working horse.
Together Richard and Tricia offer the complete package, for the working horse and owner.
Swainsford Heavy Horses offers a range of services for the working horse, their owners, and the community at large. We aim to help as many people to become involved with these marvellous animals as possible by running training courses for both people and horses. With the help of our sister company Blue Horse Equine Ltd, we can supply all the harness and equipment needed to get horse and owner working together.
If you just want to experience the thrill of working with a heavy horse, or you want to learn to work with your own horse, we can help.
